Tungsten carbide threading turning tool is used in thread machining. Currently, due to the characteristics of numerical control machining, the traditional high speed steel turning tool can no longer meet its needs. Nowadays, the threading machining in cast iron material often uses YG tungsten carbide, while that in steel material often uses YT tungsten carbide, such as YT15. This type of cutting tool is of wide universality, not only suitable for rough machining but also finish machining.

 

Tungsten carbide threading turning tool can be divided into two types, which are internal turning tool and external turning tool, among which, it can again be subdivided into the solid type and the clip type. The clip type threading turning tool is increasingly common in use. The structure of clip type threading turning tool has two main parts, which are the shank and the blade. There is a shim on the shank, which is fastened by a bolt and the blade is installed in the shim. There are two types of blades in the clip type turning tool, that is uncoated tungsten carbide blade and coated tungsten carbide blade. The former one is generally used in non-ferrous metal machining, which include aluminium, alloy, copper, copper alloy etc., while the latter generally in rolled steel, cast iron, stainless steel, alloy, and so on. Coasting can greatly extend the blade’s service life.
