Tungsten Carbide Powder

Tungsten carbide powder is the main raw material for the production of cemented carbide, and its chemical formula is WC. Called Wolfram Carbide, also translated as tungsten carbide black six square crystals, with metallic luster, hardness and diamond are similar, as are good conductors of electricity and heat. Melting point is 2870 ℃, and boiling point is 6000 ℃, with the relative density of 15.63 (18 ℃). 1 . Main Properties

Tungsten carbide powder is dark grey powder, which can dissolve in a variety of carbide, especially in titanium carbide solubility in large, formation of TiC-WC solid solution. Another compound, tungsten and carbon as ditungsten carbide, chemical formula W2C,which melting point is 2860 ℃ and boiling point is 6000 ℃,with the relative density of 17.15. Ditungsten carbide’s the properties, preparation method and use is the same as tungsten carbide.

2 . Main Use

Tungsten carbide powder is mainly used in the production of cemented carbide. The tungsten carbide, tungsten metal lattice interstitial carbon atoms embedded, does not destroy the original metal lattice, the formation of interstitial solid solution, so also called interstitial (or insert) compounds. Tungsten carbide by high temperature heating a mixture of tungsten and carbon, hydrogen or the presence of hydrocarbons can speed up the reaction. If the oxygen compounds containing tungsten prepared products must eventually be vacuum treatment at 1500 ℃, to remove the carbon oxygen compound. Tungsten carbide is suitable for machining at high temperature and make cutting tools, the structure of the furnace material, the jet engine, gas turbine and nozzle.
