Advantages of Tungsten Wire for Glass Heating

Tungsten wire has significant advantages as a material for glass heating, including but not limited to high melting point, thermal stability, electrothermal efficiency, mechanical strength and processing flexibility, so it is widely used in glass manufacturing, electron tube packaging and optical glass processing.

The advantages of tungsten wire for glass heating are mainly reflected in the following aspects:

First, tungsten wire has an extremely high melting point of about 3422℃, which is one of the metals with the highest melting point in nature. This enables tungsten wire to work stably in the high temperature environment required for glass processing (usually over 1000℃), and it is not easy to melt or deform, ensuring the reliability and safety of the heating process.

Secondly, tungsten wire has excellent thermal stability and good anti-oxidation performance at high temperatures. Although it is easy to oxidize at high temperatures in air, glass heating is usually carried out in a vacuum or inert gas environment, which effectively prolongs the service life of tungsten wire. In addition, tungsten wire has a low coefficient of thermal expansion, small dimensional changes after heating, and can maintain stable heating performance, which is suitable for precision glass processing.

Third, tungsten wire has good electrothermal conversion efficiency. Its resistivity is moderate, and it can heat up quickly after power is turned on, providing uniform heat distribution. This is especially important for glass heating, because glass is sensitive to temperature changes, and uniform heating can avoid stress concentration and reduce the risk of cracking.

Fourth, tungsten wire has high mechanical strength and strong corrosion resistance, and can withstand long-term high-temperature work and chemical environment. This makes tungsten wire perform well in processes such as glass melting, wire drawing or molding, reducing maintenance and replacement frequency and reducing production costs.

Finally, tungsten wire has good processing performance and can be made into filaments or complex shapes to meet the needs of different heating equipment. Its high conductivity and durability also make it economical and practical in industrial-scale glass production.
