Tungsten Disulfide for Reflow Furnace Lubrication

Tungsten disulfide is a new lubricating material with excellent lubricating performance. Moreover, when it is applied in the lubrication of reflow furnace, there’s no formation of coke and no oil dripping. So it can be used to lubricate the pars of reflow furnace, effectively improving their service lives.

Reflow furnace works at the temperature of 250°C while the working temperature of relevant parts is more than 200°C. At present, the lubricants widely used in reflow furnace parts lubrication include polyphenylene ether, methyl-silicone oil, methyl phenyl silicone oil, etc.

However, there are some problems during the use of these lubricants. They are as following:

1. The grease dries easily. And it is easy to form carbon residues at high temperature. The accumulated coke will make the adjustment of plate width difficult. And the chain and the screw are stuck easily, which will further force the reflow furnace to stop for maintenance.

2. Oil volatilizes easily. If the supplement of lubricant is not timely, the parts will be damaged excessively. And the equipment may have to be repaired.

3. The oil dripping happened at high temperature. The oil with poor adhesion will crawl along the chain and eventually contaminate the circuit board.

4. The grease is harmful to the health of operators. The workshop is closed and the air can’t circulate well. So the thermal decomposition components of grease cannot be discharged in time. In long term, it will harm the health of operators.

5. The lubrication time is short. It is a big cost for manufacturers to spend much time lubricating the parts of reflow furnace.

As a new type of solid lubricating material, tungsten disulfide has good resistance to high temperature. When it is used in reflow furnace lubrication, there is no oil dripping and no formation of coke. This kind of material can effectively reduce the friction loss of the parts and prolong their service lives to a large extent.
