I. Analysis of China’s Rare Earth Price Trends in July 2025
According to CTIA GROUP LTD, the price trends of mainstream light and heavy rare earth products in China in July 2025 showed pergence: praseodymium-neodymium prices continued the upward trend from June, with an overall faster rate of increase than in June; dysprosium-terbium prices rose initially and then declined, with the increase and decrease roughly balancing each other.
In July, the price of praseodymium oxide increased by approximately 17.67%, neodymium oxide by approximately 19.47%, praseodymium-neodymium oxide by approximately 19.78%, and praseodymium-neodymium metal by approximately 18.13%.
In the light rare earth market, the prices of praseodymium-neodymium products exhibited a fluctuating upward trend in July due to multiple factors. Specifically, the strategic importance of rare earths as a resource has become increasingly prominent, with Northern Rare Earth raising the transaction prices of rare earth concentrates in the third quarter, and the competitive bidding for praseodymium-neodymium metal remaining active. At the same time, rare earth manufacturers face significant production challenges, with most industry insiders optimistic about future prospects, compounded by the current peak consumption season for rare earth permanent magnet materials. Against this backdrop, the prices of rare earth permanent magnet materials and their waste materials have also risen.
In the medium and heavy rare earth market, prices of dysprosium and terbium saw a slight increase in the first half of the month, supported by strong production costs and high downstream inquiry interest. However, in the latter half, as product prices reached higher levels and downstream production companies faced tight liquidity, suppliers’ quotes began to return to rationality, leading to a downward adjustment trend.
II. Average Prices of Rare Earth Products in July 2025
In July 2025, the prices of most rare earth products in China increased both month-on-month and year-on-year. The average price of praseodymium oxide was 491,565 yuan per ton, increased by 6.80% month-on-month and 32.67% year-on-year; neodymium oxide was 481,174 yuan per ton, increased by 6.84% month-on-month and 29.86% year-on-year; praseodymium-neodymium oxide was 476,739 yuan per ton, increased by 7.29% month-on-month and 31.46% year-on-year; praseodymium-neodymium metal was 582,435 yuan per ton, increased by 6.85% month-on-month and 30.05% year-on-year; terbium oxide was 7,151 yuan per kilogram, decreased by 0.42% month-on-month but increased by 38.26% year-on-year; dysprosium oxide was 1,664,783 yuan per ton, increased by 1.71% month-on-month but decreased by 4.06% year-on-year; and dysprosium-iron alloy was 1,607,826 yuan per ton, increased by 1.25% month-on-month but decreased by 5.35% year-on-year.
From January to July 2025, the prices of most rare earth products in China increased year-on-year. The average price of praseodymium oxide was 456,631 yuan per ton, increased by 16.94% year-on-year; neodymium oxide was 448,589 yuan per ton, increased by 15.43% year-on-year; praseodymium-neodymium oxide was 438,908 yuan per ton, increased by 15.50% year-on-year; praseodymium-neodymium metal was 539,206 yuan per ton, increased by 14.50% year-on-year; terbium oxide was 6,728 yuan per kilogram, increased by 15.40% year-on-year; dysprosium oxide was 1,667,695 yuan per ton, decreased by 13.31% year-on-year; and dysprosium-iron alloy was 1,625,596 yuan per ton, decreased by 13.78% year-on-year.
