Lead tungstate is an important inorganic scintillator material. Because of its excellent scintillation properties such as short attenuation time, high irradiation hardness, high density and low cost, it has been widely used in many fields such as light emitting, optical fiber, photocatalysis, microwave, scintillator, detector and so on.
It is well known that nanocrystalline materials with special morphologies often exhibit some excellent properties. Therefore, it is very important to prepare nanotubular lead tungstate crystals with novel morphologies. To this end, some scholars have attempted to prepare lead tungstate crystals at room temperature and pressure, including the following steps:
(1)Lead nitrate solution with concentration of 0.1-1.0 mol/L and potassium acetate solution with concentration of 0.2-2.0 mol/L were prepared respectively.
(2)The mixture A containing lead acetate precipitation and potassium nitrate solution was obtained by mixing the lead nitrate aqueous solution and potassium acetate aqueous solution prepared by step (1), and the molar ratio of potassium acetate to lead nitrate was 2:1.
(3)Sodium tungstate solution with concentration of 0.12-1.2 mol/L and polyethylene glycol (PEG-6000) solution with mass fraction of 0.5% were prepared, and mixed with them for 30 minutes to obtain a mixed solution containing sodium tungstate and polyethylene glycol.
(4)Mixture A obtained in step (2) was mixed with the mixed solution obtained in step (3) to obtain mixture B. Then the container containing mixture B was put into a temperature-controlled microwave hydrothermal instrument for microwave treatment. The reaction products were washed repeatedly with distilled water. After filtering and drying, lead tungstate nanotubular crystals were obtained.
Lead tungstate nanotubular crystals with good crystallinity and high purity were prepared by the new process at room temperature and pressure. The process is simple, easy to operate and low cost. The obtained lead tungstate nanotubular crystals have unique one-dimensional tubular structure. They have more excellent properties in luminescence, optical fiber, photocatalysis, microwave, scintillator, detector and so on, and have a wider application prospect.
