What is Tungsten Carbide Button Bit?

Tungsten carbide button bit is formed by insetting the tungsten carbide button into the bit. Compared with the flake bit, the distribution of button bit is more flexible. The number and position of the side and middle tooth can be determined according to the diameter of gouge and the load of cutting. 

The diameter of bit is not limited. The breaking is highly efficient owing to multipoint breaking. It not only can effectively eliminate the rock-breaking blind zone, but also avoid the repeated breaking of the cuttings.

In addition, the level of abrasion of button bit is higher than that of the flake bit (the tungsten carbide button bit is mainly subjected to compressive stress, while the flake alloy is tensile stress. It has high durability and less regrinding work which shows a great advantage in the operating conditions of mechanized rock drilling rigs and deep hole mining. Because of such working condition, it takes a lot of time to replace the bit. The longer the interval of repeated grinding is, the higher the working efficiency is. Therefore, the tungsten carbide button bit plays a more and more important role in modern drilling industry and develop rapidly.

The tungsten carbide button bit can be classified into two categories according to the connection way of jackrod: tapered hole joint bit and threaded joint bit. Tapered hole joint bit is mainly applied to replace chisel bit. The requirement is relatively low, and the production process is relatively simple. As for threaded connection bit, it is applied to medium-length hole operations such as hydraulic drilling rigs. It requires high technology because the damage which occurs during the rock drilling will lead to tremendous influence. The cost of high-level threaded connection bit is high. It has a large gap compared with foreign countries and can not be the alternative. Nowadays, a lot of demanding mines and projects still use the tungsten carbide button bit.
