What Is the Tungsten Carbide Die?

Tungsten carbide die is a kind of tungsten carbide with high hardness, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and small expansion coefficient. Tungsten cobalt is generally used as raw material. Moulds that often appear on the market are cold heading die, cold-punching die, wire drawing die, six angles die, spiral die and so on. Compared with the traditional metal mold, the tungsten carbide die has the advantages of high production efficiency, good quality of the workpiece and long die life.

Usually, tungsten carbide dies can be divided into four categories according to their application. The first kind is the wire drawing die, which accounts for the vast majority of the moulds. Main brands of wire drawing die are YG8, YG6, YG3, YG15, YG6X and YG3X in China at present. Some new brands have been developed, such as the new brand YL for high-speed wire drawing. And also, some drawing die brand have been imported from abroad CS05 (YLO 5), CG20 (YL20), CG40 (YL30), K10 and ZK20/ZK30.

The second type of die is cold heading, cold-punching die and plastic mold, of which the main brands are YC20C, YG20, YG15, CT35, YJT30 and MO15. The third type of mold is a non-magnetic alloy die for the production of magnetic materials, such as the YSN of the YSN series (including 20, 25, 30, 35, 40) and the steel knot without magnetic model brand TMF. The fourth type is hot working mould, and there is no standard brand for this kind of alloy.

Although starting late, tungsten carbide in China developed rapidly. At present, tungsten carbide dies have been basically serialized and standardized. From the development of recent years, the theory of research and design of cemented carbide dies in China is more thorough, more scientific and more widely used.
