Vacuum Steam Recycle of Tungsten from Tungsten Alloy Scrap

Tungsten copper alloy is made up of copper powder and tungsten powder at a certain proportion, which is made by powder metallurgy. The material combines the advantages of tungsten and copper, and is widely used in military materials, electronic packaging materials, electrical sink materials, electrode materials and other fields. With the prolongation of the use time and the decline of the function of the tungsten copper alloy, the tungsten copper alloy has been dropped out of the application field and became waste.

At present, the metal scrap metal recycling materials, has become an important source of metal resources, acid soluble electrolytic method for recycle of tungsten and copper is often used in industry, namely the first tungsten copper alloy grinding, with strong acid dissolution, then under suitable conditions of electrolytic solution of tungsten and copper acid. The method has the following disadvantages: 1. The process is complicated; 2. Due to the use of strong acid, it is easy to cause environmental pollution during operation, and also increases the work difficulty of operators. 3. Metal recycle rate is not high and purity is low; 4. The cost of production is high.

Some scholars have proposed a copper tungsten alloy recycle program. The central principle of the scheme is to utilize the large difference between the boiling points of tungsten and copper so that the copper in the copper-tungsten alloy scrap can be separated in the form of steam while the tungsten is not evaporated due to the high boiling point so as to realize the separation of tungsten and copper in the copper-tungsten alloy scrap.

Using vacuum separation and recycle technology, tungsten copper alloy scrap recycling scheme is roughly summarized as follows: 1. Crushing copper tungsten alloy scrap and obtaining copper tungsten alloy scrap powder. 2. The waste powder of copper tungsten alloy is evaporated in vacuum. The vacuum pressure is 1 ~ 10Pa, the temperature is 800~1000 degrees Celsius, and the copper vapor and metal tungsten are obtained. 3. The copper vapor is cooled and the metal copper is obtained, and the rest is tungsten.

The vacuum steam method is simple in operation and short in technological process. It does not introduce impurities to copper and tungsten products. It has high purity, no waste gas and waste residue and no pollution to environment. It is an effective way to recover tungsten copper waste alloy.
