In actual manufacturing and application, it is necessary to select the suitable tungsten carbide brand according to the actual working conditions, processing conditions and other factors. Additionally, when the tungsten carbide die is set in the matrix steel, the amount of interference must be reasonably selected.
1, Selection of Brand
Different kind of tungsten carbide with different brand has different wear resistance and impact toughness. Generally, the low cobalt YG alloy used in the manufacture of moulds has higher wear resistance and less impact toughness. With the increase of cobalt in the alloy, the wear resistance and the impact toughness are increased. As the standard parts die needs to bear greater pressure, YG15, YG20 and YG25 hard alloys with high impact toughness are generally selected.
2, Selection of Interference Amount of the Die Sleeve
There will be a cracking problem in the process of manufacture and use. The failure of the tungsten carbide die is more than 75% because of the cracking. In the process of pressing and shaping, the die and the die sleeve will produce stress and strain under the action of side pressure, so the tungsten carbide die must be set up, improving its ability to resist stress.
If the strength is insufficient, the die and the die sleeve will break up. Or if the rigidity is not enough, the blank will be stratified when unloaded. The selection of interference is closely related to the prestress, the greater the amount of interference, the greater the prestress. In terms of design, the greater the better the prestress is, the better. But the material and hardness of the die sleeve and the bending strength of the tungsten carbide cannot be ignored.
