Linear Tungsten Carbide Ball Bearings: Linear tungsten carbide ball bearings are ball bearings designed to support loads that move along a straight line, rather than rotating about an axis. Linear tungsten carbide ball bearings usually consist of an outer ring, a ball retainer, balls and two end rings. The tungsten carbide linear ball bearing is designed so that balls roll directly on the surface along which the bearing moves.

These bearings provide increased precision and greater longevity than do simple sliding bearings. They are easy to install or replace and usually require minimum maintenance.

Tungsten carbide linear ball bearings are occasionally referred to as linear guides and are widely used in precision machinery, medical instruments, agricultural equipment and automated production equipment.

Cemented carbide is widely used for solid carbide cutting tools, such as drill bits. Correctly use cemented carbide drill bits, to turn material resources to good account, is a mechanical processing practitioner’s responsibility. It mainly includes the following aspects:

1. Choose the right machine tool

Cemented carbide drill bits can be correctly used in those machine tools with high power and good rigidity, such as CNC machine tool and machining center. Radial drill and universal milling machine should not be chosen due to the low power and poor precision of the spindle, which will easily lead to early collapse of the cemented carbide drill bits.

2. Choose the right tool holder of cemented carbide drill bits

If you want to correctly use cemented carbide drill bits, collet chuck, side handle and hydraulic chuck can all be used as tool holder. For quickly change chuck, because the clamping force of it is not enough, you should rather not choose it.

3. Proper cooling process of cemented carbide drill bits

3.1 For external cooling, you should pay attention to the directional combination of cooling, and into the upper and lower echelon configuration. Then the carbide drill bits can work correctly.

3.2 For the inner cooling, you should pay attention to the pressure and flow rate, and you should avoid the leakage of the cooling liquid.

In last part we revealed that cemented carbide drill bits, as a sort of carbide cutting tools, shall be used following such correct points as choosing right machine tool, right tool holder of bits, and execute proper cooling process. This part we will talk about the another point we shall pay as much attention to as above.

4. Correct drilling practice

The drilling practice is also important to the correct use of cemented carbide drill bits.

4.1 Don’t drill when the drilling surface angle > 8°; If the drilling surface angle <8°, the feed should be reduced to 1/2~1/3 of the normal.

4.2 When the drilling surface angle>5°, the feed should be reduced to 1/2~1/3 of the normal.

4.3 When drilling the cross holes, the feed should be reduced to 1/2~1/3 of the normal. Three-wing bit is the best choice.

4.4 Two-wing cemented carbide drill bit can not be used for reaming, which will make the drill bits work incorrectly. Three-wing bit can be used for reaming.

In a word, all the cemented carbide drill bits should be correctly used according to the actual condition of the work pieces, just in order to realize their potential capabilities, maximum the efficiency and therefore save the cost.

Thrust Ball Bearings: A thrust ball bearing, as shown to the right, is a particular type of rotational bearing, and like other rotational bearings, permits rotation between two moving parts. These bearings are comprised of balls and washer like bearing rings. The rings may have flat rolling surfaces with no defined raceway or may have contoured rolling tracks (grooved race or washer) that together with a cage assembly hold the balls in place.

Thrust ball bearings are designed to support axial loads, which are loads applied along the axis of the bearing, as opposed to radial loads, which are applied perpendicular to the axis of the bearing. This type of bearing is found in various items including swivel barstools, turntables, and construction equipment.

Generally, there are three types of thrust bearings: flat-race thrust bearings which consist of flat washers and have a limited load capacity; single-direction thrust bearings, which consist of grooved races and which support axial loads in one direction; and double-direction thrust bearings, which consist of two grooved races and which can accommodate axial loads acting in both directions. Thrust bearings can also incorporate rollers (thrust roller bearings) as a means to reduce friction.
