Rare earth market update on July 17, 2025
The domestic rare earth market maintains stable operations overall, characterized by no significant changes in product prices, moderate sentiment among traders, and limited new orders.
Today, the prices of praseodymium oxide, erbium oxide, and dysprosium oxide are approximately 480,000 yuan per ton, 325,000 yuan per ton, and 1,700,000 yuan per ton, respectively. However, it is worth noting that, driven by the recent volatile increase in raw material prices, the prices of rare earth permanent magnet materials have risen, with the price of 55N neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) blank blocks increasing by approximately 3 yuan per kilogram.
According to CTIA GROUP LTD, the dominance of essential demand among downstream users, combined with suppliers’ low willingness to offer discounts, is the primary reason for the stable prices of mainstream light and heavy rare earth products. Based on current market conditions, some industry participants expect the rare earth market to continue its sideways consolidation trend in the short term.
According to information from the Baotou Rare Earth Products Exchange, on July 17, 2025, China Northern Rare Earth conducted an online competitive bidding transaction for praseodymium-neodymium metal, with a starting price of 565,000 yuan per ton. The transaction results are as follows: praseodymium-neodymium metal was transacted at 568,000 yuan per ton for 80 tons and 567,500 yuan per ton for 20 tons. The online transaction prices for praseodymium-neodymium metal on July 17, 2025, were higher than those on July 15, when the transaction prices were 566,000 yuan per ton and 566,500 yuan per ton.
On July 15, China Rare Earth announced that it expects a net profit attributable to shareholders of 136.27 million to 176.27 million yuan for the first half of 2025, compared to a loss of 244.419 million yuan in the same period last year. The net profit after excluding non-recurring gains and losses is projected to be 131.06 million to 170.06 million yuan, compared to a loss of 254.7415 million yuan in the same period last year. Basic earnings per share are expected to be 0.1284 to 0.1661 yuan, compared to a loss of 0.2303 yuan per share in the same period last year.
