Rhenium resembles manganese chemically and is obtained as a by-product of molybdenum and copper ore's extraction and refinement. Rhenium shows in its compounds a wide variety of oxidation states ranging from 1 to +7.Nickel-based superalloys of rhenium are used in the combustion chambers, turbine blades, and exhaust nozzles of jet engines, these alloys contain up to 6% rhenium, making jet engine construction the largest single use for the element, with the chemical industry's catalytic uses being next-most important.
 
Because of the low availability relative to demand, rhenium is among the most expensive of metals, with an average price of approximately US$4,575 per kilogram (US$142.30 per troy ounce) as of August 2011; it is also of critical strategic military importance, for its use in high performance military jet and rocket engines.

Tungsten bar has excellent properties including good electrical conductivity, low thermal expansion coefficient and high corrosion resistance, etc. All unalloyed tungsten bar is produced by powder-metallurgy methods. Comparing with molybdenum bar, tungsten bar has higher strength at temperatures above 2,000°F. The elastic modulus of tungsten is about 25% higher than that of molybdenum. What's more, the density of tungsten bar is almost twice as much as that of molybdenum bar.
 
Tungsten bars with impurities are used to procedure bulb filaments or electron tube filaments, which are guaranteed to have remarkable resistance to high temperature for making special steel, tungsten wire and electric contact point. They are also applied in crankshaft, cylinder burdening and electrodes for advanced automobiles. Tungsten bar is most widely used in steel making. In the steel making industry, tungsten bar is usually applied as an additive. The purity is at least 99.93% according to Chinese Standard. There are four grades of tungsten bar, which ranging from W-1 to W-4.Steel making tungsten bar is also used as found ingredient of material, cutter and heads, tungsten wire for lights instruments, electric contact points and conductor of heat, crankshaft and cylinder barrel of advanced automobile, ingredient of kinds of heat-resistant steel.

Tungsten rod can be divided into two categories: one is for finished tungsten rod bar. The other is for drawing wire semi-finished rough rod material. Tungsten rod can be made into tungsten wire. Due to the big hardness of tungsten, small mechanical abrasion and refractoriness, so tungsten material is widely used for electric connected touch for mobile motor distributor, voltage regulator of automobile engine and electric system. In addition, tungsten rod bar can be supplied for electrodes, electric tube bars, side bar, quoted line, gas lamp electrodes, high efficient incandescent filament, filament tube, launched tube cathode, senior automotive crankshafts and so on.

Swaged Tungsten Rod
Swaged tungsten rod is made through constant swaging. After centerless grinding, surface diameter’s completeness and accuracy have improved. They can be machined into various shapes, but the most common shape is cylinder. The tensile strength of tungsten rod bar has promoted 1050MPa to 1200Mpa after swaged. Swaged tungsten rod bar is made by forging and sintering tungsten block.

Basically it is close to tungsten theory density. They are high temperature resistance. Sintered tungsten rod bar’s melting points can reach 3380℃.
