Types of Promise Rings

A promise ring is given from one partner to another. It signifies a promise between the two partners that has to do with their relationship. When deciding on the type of promise ring to give to your partner, there are many different types to choose from no matter what your relationship status is.

Commitment Rings
Commitment promise rings specify a commitment between the two individuals that they won't date anyone else. This commitment can be for a specified period of time or throughout the life of the relationship. These type of rings are generally plain in appearance.

Purity Rings
Purity promise rings signify the partners not having sexual intercourse before marriage. They are often given after the individuals have been in the relationship for at least two or three months. Purity rings generally have religious symbols such as crosses on them.

Future Marriage Rings
Future marriage rings specify a promise between the individuals that they will marry each other some day. They differ from engagement rings in the fact that it is just a promise and not an engagement with a date set or wedding plans. Future marriage rings do not consist of any design in particular, but can have designs such as hearts on them.

Upgrade Rings
Ring upgrade promise rings are generally given to a partner as a cheaper alternative to a wedding or engagement ring. With this type of ring it is promised that a proper engagement or wedding ring will be given when money or other resources allow. Promise rings that offer a ring upgrade often times have stones in them that are made of cubic zirconium or gems.

Forever Rings
Forever rings are given to a partner as a promise that they will be together forever without getting married. Forever rings often look like wedding bands.
