Rare Earth Market - June 5, 2025

Rare earth market update on June 5, 2025

The domestic rare earth market is showing a narrow range oscillation, with a slightly stagnant negotiation atmosphere among traders due to limited downstream buying interest and a slowdown in the growth of spot supply.

This has led to stable product prices with little increase or decrease and low trading volumes. Today, the prices of neodymium oxide, terbium oxide, and dysprosium oxide are approximately 446,000 yuan/ton, 7,200 yuan/kg, and 1,640,000 yuan/ton, respectively.

From the supply side, factors such as ongoing stringent environmental enforcement, current low rare earth prices, reduced inquiries from magnetic enterprises, and China’s export controls on medium and heavy rare earth-related items have contributed to reduced output from some rare earth manufacturers. It is reported that in May, China’s praseodymium-neodymium product output declined month-on-month, with notable production drops in neodymium oxide in regions like Jiangxi, Shandong, and Sichuan.

From the demand side, in the short term, complex global economic conditions, limited working capital for downstream companies, and relatively ample spot market supply have led buyers to avoid rushing consumption. However, in the long term, the promising development of emerging industries is expected to drive increased demand for rare earth functional materials.
