Rare earth market update on February 14, 2025

This week, domestic rare earth prices exhibited a trend of initial increases followed by declines. 

At the beginning of the week, driven by limited spot supply in the market and active inquiries from downstream buyers, prices of mainstream products continued their sharp rise from the previous week. However, as the weekend approached, prices underwent a rational correction due to lower-than-expected market transaction volumes, buyers' reluctance to purchase at high prices, and increased willingness among holders to sell.

According to data from China Tungsten Online, the current price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide has risen by approximately RMB 9,000 per ton compared to last week, marking a 2.11% increase. The price of praseodymium-neodymium metal has increased by about RMB 15,000 per ton, up 2.86%. Terbium oxide prices have climbed by around RMB 140 per kilogram, a 2.33% rise, while dysprosium oxide prices have increased by about RMB 20,000 per ton, up 1.18%. Additionally, the price of 55N NdFeB blank blocks has risen by approximately RMB 3 per kilogram, a 1.46% increase, and the price of NdFeB scrap (praseodymium-neodymium) has increased by about RMB 5 per kilogram, up 1.11%. Overall, the price increases for praseodymium, neodymium, terbium, and dysprosium have outweighed the declines.

According to the official website of the Jiangxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the average sales price of high yttrium oxide in Ganzhou was RMB 188,000 per ton in January, unchanged month-on-month but down 8.29% year-on-year. The average sales price of medium yttrium europium compound was RMB 168,000 per ton, flat month-on-month but up 1.82% year-on-year. Meanwhile, the average sales price of tungsten concentrate in Ganzhou was RMB 143,500 per ton, unchanged month-on-month but up 18.60% year-on-year.
