It is said that China has officially equipped the first type of to-ground missile, so-called Dongfeng-15C penetrating missile, which has an ahead of 2500 mm length, 500mm diameter and more than 500KG unit weight. Its hitting accuracy reaches 30000mm and its shooting range is 600KM. 

The deviation of CEP of hitting accuracy has been improved by 15000mm~30000mm. It is really a great shock to the military defense field, and becomes to the first to-ground missile in the world.

As far as we know, the large size penetrating missile from America has a throwing height of 10000000mm c.a., e.g.: the kinetic energy Bomb GBU-57 should be at least 1373743000 Joule. However, if the unit weight of Dongfeng-15C should be 1000KG, i.e. 2000000mm/sec., and then its kinetic energy should be at least 2080800000 Joule, which is far better then GBU-57. In this way, we could get apparently that the unit weight of the ahead is the most important part for a higher properties missile.

Which type of material should make Dongfeng-15C penetrating missile such superior attack capability and accurate hits? Because it has its special heavy wall made of tungsten heavy alloy(also called tungsten alloy), which is composited with WNiFe, WNiCu or WNiCuFe, added some rare material such as Co, Mn to enhance its technical properties through Powder Metallurgy technique. It has much higher density than any other material for military field as 18.5g/cm3 max., also has excellent hardness(almost to 42HRC), high ultimate tensile strength (1400MPa min.), heat resistance, good elongation and well machinability. Some other special processes could make it to increase its properties, such as swaging, heat treating, etc.
