Tungsten titanium cobalt carbide has a higher resistance to crater wear ability, suitable for the long cutting tool materials. Tungsten cobalt carbide tool cutting steel prone to crater wear resistance, which is mainly caused by the diffusion reaction occurs in the cutting temperature, tool and chip. In order to overcome the crater wear when machining steel, in the early 1920s, developed containing TiC carbide and carbide containing TaC, and later developed containing both titanium carbide and tantalum carbide. Depending on the severity of the crater wear resistance in these alloys, the content of TiC and TaC, TiC up to 35% and 7%.
Cemented titanium-tungsten carbide’s main ingredient is tungsten carbide, titanium carbide (TiC), and cobalt.
Cemented titanium-tungsten carbide’s trademark is composed by "YT" (the first letter of "hard and Ti” in Chinese Pinyin ) and the average content of titanium carbide. For example, YT15, represents an average of TiC = 15%, the rest is tungsten carbide and the cobalt.
Cemented titanium-tungsten carbide is mainly used for cutting steel.
