By measuring optical contrast (CR). Contrast can be measured with specific wavelengths or light of the entire wavelength. For reflective electrochromic devices, the contrast can be calculated according to the formula CR=R0/Rx, wherein Rx and R0 are the diffuse reflection intensity of light in the colored state and the bleached state, respectively. For the transmissive electrochromic device, the contrast can be calculated according to the formula CR=T0/Tx, wherein Tx and T0 are the light intensity after the light passes through the colored state and the bleached state. And the reference medium is air.
