Platt, from the University of Chicago, first proposed the term electrochromism in 1961. And it was not until 1969 that the American scientist Deb first described the electrochromic phenomenon of amorphous tungsten trioxide thin film for the first time, and proposed the electrochromic mechanism of "oxygen vacancy color center". Wherein, the so-called electrochromism is a special phenomenon that the reversible change occurs between a low-transmittance state (colored state) or a high-transmission state (bleached state) by injecting or extracting charges (ions or electrons) under the action of alternating high or low or positive and negative external electric fields. And it appears as a reversible change in color and transparency.
