According to experts, in the design of complementary devices, the mutual matching between the two electrochromic materials must be considered. That is because not any two cathode and anode electrochromic materials can form a complementary device. The match referred to here has two meanings:
1.0 The ionic conductor used must be suitable for both electrochromic materials;
2.0 The response time, the conductivity of the ions in the electrolyte, and the operating voltage of the cathode and anode electrochromic materials used should be equal or approximately equal. Otherwise, it will not play a complementary role.
