Analysis of Latest Tungsten Market from Chinatungsten Online

Price quotes from industry organizations and major tungsten companies in Jiangxi have been released, with significant increases boosting volatile market sentiment. Tungsten prices continued to rise on Monday, with prices for tungsten concentrate, tungsten powder, and tungsten carbide powder all doubling year-to-date. 

Currently, sellers are showing an increased willingness to cash in on their shipments, but haven't seen any signs of selling at a lower price. Buyers, however, are reluctant to take on high-priced raw materials, and the market remains cautious, demand-driven, and case-by-case.

Latest Tungsten Product Prices as of press time

65% wolframite concentrate is priced at RMB 286,000/ton, a 100% increase from the beginning of the year.

65% scheelite concentrate is priced at RMB 285,000/ton, a 100.7% increase from the beginning of the year.

Ammonium paratungstate (APT) is priced at RMB 415,000/ton, a 96.7% increase from the beginning of the year.

European APT prices are USD 535-550/mtu (RMB 338,000-347,000/ton), a 64.4% increase from the beginning of the year.

The price of tungsten powder was reported at RMB 640/kg, a 102.5% increase from the beginning of the year.

The price of tungsten carbide powder was reported at RMB 625/kg, a 101.0% increase from the beginning of the year.

The price of 70 ferrotungsten was reported at RMB 405,000/ton, an 88.4% increase from the beginning of the year.

The price of European ferrotungsten was reported at USD 77.5-81/kg W (equivalent to RMB 387,000-405,000/ton), an 80.1% increase from the beginning of the year.

The price of scrap tungsten bar was reported at RMB 445/kg, a 102.3% increase from the beginning of the year.

Trump Exempts Tungsten Products from Import Tariffs

On September 5th, local time, the White House issued a statement announcing that US President Trump signed an executive order adjusting the scope of import tariffs and implementing trade and security framework agreements with foreign trading partners. Industry insiders noted the inclusion of tungsten products in the tariff exemption list and contacted China Tungsten Online regarding its potential impact. According to China Tungsten Online, on April 2nd of this year, when the White House declared a national emergency and imposed a 10% "reciprocal tariff" on all trading partners, it also released an exemption list. Compared to this exemption list, the relevant categories of tungsten products have not been adjusted. Therefore, tungsten products continue to maintain their exemption status, meaning that trade with the United States will not be directly affected by the tariff adjustment for the time being.
