Tungsten Trioxide Nano Particles Applied for New Energy Efficient Building Glass

Tungsten trioxide nano particles, as an electrochromic material, may be applied to produce a new energy efficient building glass, which is more and more popular with people with wider application prospect. According to experts, the cause of the electrochromism can be explained by an electrochemical reaction model.

In 1975, I.F.Chang proposed an electrochemical reaction model. The model believes that the cause of electrochromism is that the material reacts electrochemically under the action of an external electric field, and the valence state of the oxide changes, and the chemical products produced are of different colors. Taking WO3 as an example, the following electrochemical reaction occurred during the electrochromic process, generating a low-cost tungsten oxide WO3-x, which changed from colorless to blue:
WO3+2xH++2xe-←→WO3-x+xH2O
Some experts have proposed similar theories, except that they think that the product produced is WO3-x(OH)x:
WO3+xH++xe-←→WO3-x(OH)x
