Dysprosium Oxide Price - March 11, 2022

China’s domestic rare earth prices showed a slight downward trend as a whole this week. In addition to the fact that downstream users are more afraid of heights, it is difficult to release transactions. The escalation of external geopolitical risks and the impact on the downstream industry of rare earths are also one of the factors that reduce the demand for rare earth raw materials.

Currently, the prices of praseodymium neodymium oxide and dysprosium oxide have fallen below RMB 1,100,000/ton and RMB 3,100,000/ton respectively. However, some suppliers are still willing to maintain firm quotations, supported by production costs, low stock of raw materials and increased transportation costs.

According to Chinatungsten Online, affected by the unstable situation in Russia and Ukraine, the shortage of chip semiconductors has intensified, which has led to difficulties in production and production of automobile manufacturers, which will greatly reduce the amount of rare earth permanent magnets. Porsche's Leipzig plant will suspend production from March 2 to March 11, and whether it can resume production normally needs to be assessed based on the dynamics of the situation in the next few weeks. In addition, automakers such as Ford and Toyota have also shut down some of their production capacity due to tight global chip supply.

In terms of news: in February, the price of rare earth products in Baotou increased by half from the previous month: the average price of rare earth carbonate was 85,550 yuan/ton, up 17.5% month-on-month and 2.8 times year-on-year; the average price of cerium oxide was 8,750 yuan/ton, 1.1% month-on-month, down year-on-year 11.9%; the average price of neodymium oxide was 1.166 million yuan/ton, an increase of 14.2% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 1.1 times; the average price of metal neodymium was 1.443 million yuan/ton, an increase of 18.2% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 1.1 times; the average price of praseodymium neodymium metal was 1.324 million RMB/ton, up 18.1% month-on-month and 1.4 times year-on-year.
