Monumental Minerals Announces to Inspect Jemi Heavy Rare Earth Project

Monumental Minerals Corp. has appointed an advisory board to assist in the exploration and drilling targeting of the Jemi Heavy Rare Earth Project, located in Coahuila, Mexico, approximately 40 kilometers south of the U.S. Texas border.

The Jemi Project hosts numerous rare earth element (REE) occurrences containing potentially high value magnetic REEs including neodymium (Nd), praseodymium (Pr), dysprosium (Dy) and terbium (Tb) and associated tantalum (Ta), niobium (Nb) and zirconium (Zr). Jemi Project is located in the North American Alkaline Igneous Belt, an under-explored north-south trending alkaline igneous and carbonate rock that hosts significant deposits of rare earth elements, gold, and other key elements.

The character and mineralogy of the rare earth element mineralization found to date at the Jemi Project is consistent with deposits associated with peralkaline intrusions, which represent an important potential economic type of the highest value rare earth elements. Deposits of this type are being explored and prepared for development in Australia, Europe, and North America.

Currently, ionic clay deposits in southern China and Myanmar are the world's primary source of HREEs; however, the limited resource size of such deposits, their serious environmental legacy, and increasing export restrictions are driving the discovery and development of other, more sustainable sources of HREEs. The REEs Dy and Tb are typically enriched in peralkaline deposits and are essential for the high-strength permanent magnets of electric vehicles and wind turbines performance is critical.

Exploration work at the Jemi Heavy Rare Earth Project is currently in the early stages with less than 5% of the project having been evaluated for HREE. Field visits are currently being planned and are expected to take place in the coming weeks to determine the next steps in exploration.
