China Rare Earth Price - January 14, 2020

China rare earth price still maintains a steady upward trend on January 14, 2020. Under the intertwining of long and short factors, upstream merchants generally have a strong mentality of holding stocks and reluctant to sell them, while downstream users do not accept high-price resources and basically maintain just-need purchase.

At present, favorable factors mainly come from the short supply of some products, booming development of emerging market and the future reduction of domestic rare earth exports; the negative factors are mainly due to the fact that there are still many global political and economic uncertainties and the relatively high product quotations.

The prices of 6 of the 8 rare earth products have been rising month-on-month, and the prices of 2 products have remained flat, according to the “Key Monitoring of Industrial Product Prices in December” by the Baotou Bureau of Industry and Information Technology. The average price of rare earth carbonate was 22750 yuan/ton, an increase of 1188 yuan/ton from the previous month, and an increase of 1750 yuan/ton year-on-year; the average price of cerium oxide was 9,750 yuan/ton, an increase of 250 yuan/ton month-on-month, and a year-on-year decrease of 1750 yuan/ton; neodymium oxide price was 498,900 yuan/ton, an increase of 79,000 yuan/ton from the previous month, and an increase of 208,500 yuan/ton year-on-year; the average price of neodymium metal was 607.5 million yuan/ton, an increase of 88,000 yuan/ton month-on-month and an increase of 245,000 yuan/ton year-on-year; the average price of neodymium metal was 512,500 yuan/ton, a month-on-month increase of 42,000 yuan/ton, an increase of 9%, and a year-on-year increase of 151,000 yuan/ton.
