LED sapphire is a single crystal alumina , also known as corundum . Sapphire crystal has excellent optical properties, mechanical properties and chemical stability, strong high hardness, resistance to erosion, close to 2000 ℃ high temperature in harsh conditions. According to the study suggest that the current can be applied to the LED substrate material only four ( see table I below ) . As an important technique sapphire crystal , has been in the LED industry to form a more mature fashion and applications .
Current international mainstream sapphire crystal growth process are Kyropoulos (KY method ) , Czochralski method (CZ method ) , guided-mode method (EFG method ) , Bridgman and heat exchange method (HEM method ) and so on. Different sizes of chip demand is gradually changing , four -inch wafer demand more prosperous, 6-inch and needs are constantly being applied , but gradually in 2-inch low-end market . As technology and market constraints, relative to the epitaxy, chip and packaging sectors , China's LED industry development has been lagging behind the substrate . In recent years , however , at a higher profit driven industry , LED sapphire in China 's rapid development of the fire people anticipated . 2010 , with the Republic of Korea , Taiwan and mainland China as well as domestic heat sapphire upstream investment areas MOCVD epitaxial soaring orders triggered China 's investment boom LED sapphire , local government or corporate capital intensity of staggering , and therefore rewrite the Chinese LED sapphire short legs weak condition .
