Recently, a new rare earth hydrogen storage alloy electrode material production line with independent intellectual property rights was put into operation in our country. The anode material produced has a capacity of 30% higher than that of traditional materials. And the product has been supplied to domestic nickel-hydrogen power battery companies.
Baotou Zhongke Xuanda New Energy Technology Co - based in Baotou, incubated by the Baotou Rare Earth R&D Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has successfully built a new rare earth element (REE) hydrogen storage alloy electrode material production line that has begun to operate. Rare earth magnesium nickel-based hydrogen storage alloy electrode materials produced by the company have the advantages of high capacity and low self-discharge.
According to Xiao Ming, the director of the company's production technology department, the biggest advantage of the new hydrogen storage alloy over the previous hydrogen storage alloy is the increase in capacity, which can be increased by about 30% per gram, reaching 400 milligrams per gram. At the same time, it owns good safety, good low temperature, and a wide temperature difference range, and can be used normally at minus 40 degrees.
As my country's first new rare earth hydrogen storage alloy production line with independent intellectual property rights, this new electrode product produced is used to prepare nickel-metal hydride power batteries. Because of its large capacity, low temperature resistance, and more environmental protection than nickel-cadmium batteries compared with the safer advantage of lithium batteries, it can be widely used in hybrid batteries for automobiles, as well as solid-state hydrogen storage and hydrogen fuel cells, breaking the technology monopoly of foreign markets.
The products are officially supplied to domestic nickel-hydrogen power battery companies. According to Xiao Ming, the product was only available in Japan and France previously. The price was very high, basically over 200,000 per ton. Now we have broken the foreign monopoly in the industry, and the price has dropped to more than 100,000 yuan per ton.
The hydrogen storage alloy electrode materials mainly use nickel and rare earths as raw materials. About one-third of the production raw materials used are light REE, which are the most abundant lanthanum and cerium elements. The market for rare earth hydrogen storage materials in this production line. The application plays a positive role in promoting the full utilization of my country's light REE resources.
