China Tungsten Exports Went through the Darkest Time in July

July is the hottest time in a year. However, this year, it was the darkest time for China's tungsten exports.

Europe has the summer vacation in July, tungsten exports reduces a lot. Due to the effect of COVID-19, although the work resumption situation is getting better, the demand for production material keeps decreasing. Tungsten export quantity in July is 1,006 tons, compared to 1,446 tons in June, it reduces 30.4%, reduces 40% compared to May, reduces 53% compared to April, reduces 56% compared to the same period as last year. Except for the time after Spring Festival, the export volume in July is the lowest in 2020 for now.

The analysis for main products includes tungsten oxide, APT, tungsten powder, tungsten carbide powder and ferro tungsten exports are listed as below:

Export volume of tungsten oxide is 45ton, compared to 377 tons last month, it reduces 88%. Compared to 224 tons in the same period of last year, it reduces 80%. Up to July, the total export volume of tungsten oxide is 2,038 tons.

Export volume of APT is 124.55 tons, compared to 40 tons last month, it is the only tungsten material which has positive growth, the growing rate is over 207%. Compared to 262.5 tons last year, the volume basically stays even. The exports volume is almost the same as it is in March. Up to July, APT export vo.ume is 691.7 tons.

Export volume of tungsten powder is 99 tons, compared to 206 tons last month, it reduces 53%. Compared to 236.7 tons in the same period of last year, it reduces 59%. Up to July, tungsten powder export volume is 1,101 tons.

Export volume of tungsten carbide powder is 232 tons, compared to 328 tons in June, it reduces 29%. Compared to 394 tons in the same period of last year, it reduces 40%. Up to July, tungsten carbide powder export volume is 2,117 tons.

Export volume of ferro tungsten is 63 tons, compared to 104 tons in July, it reduces 39%. Compared to 215 tons in the same period of last year, it reduces 70%. Up to July, export volume of ferro tungsten is 926 tons.

From the comparison of the export volume, the export volume of tungsten products in July was the least export month since this year. After the previous increase in Japan and South Korea, the volume of imports in July also shrank. The export volume of tungsten products has shrunk significantly whether compared with this year or the same period last year.

From the perspective of export destinations: Previously, the purchase volume of South Korea and Japan did support the export of tungsten raw materials. Although Japan’s imports from China showed a month-on-month and year-on-year contraction in June, South Korea has always performed well, but there has been a contraction in July. In Europe, except for Germany, which can see a small amount of demand, it is difficult to see demand in the summer of July.
