Top10 Tungsten Mine Projects Outside China II: Sisson Tungsten-Molybdenum Project

The Sisson Tungsten-Molybdenum Project is an open-pit mine, located in central New Brunswick, Canada, on the Crown land about 100 kilometers northwest of Fredericton, covering an area of more than 18,880 hectares. It is an open-pit mining project and one of the top ten tungsten mine projects outside China. Northcliff Resources and Todd Minerals are jointly developing the project under a partnership called Sisson Project Limited Partnership.

According to the feasibility study report released in January 2013. The ore reserves in Sisson Tungsten-Molybdenum Project were 334.4 million tons, the average grade of tungsten trioxide was 0.066%, the average grade of molybdenum was 0.021%; the reserve of tungsten trioxide was 222,000 tons, the amount of molybdenum metal was 70,200 tons, the designed annual production capacity of APT was 5,700 tons, and the anticipated mine life of Sisson is 27 years.

In 1978, Kidd Creek Mines discovered mineralization in the Sisson project outside China and conducted preliminary exploration and drilling until 1982. Geodex Minerals acquired the mine in 2004 and carried out subsequent delineated drilling from 2005 to 2009, drilling 46.5km in 237 holes. In November 2010, Northcliff acquired a 70% interest in the project from Geodex and acquired the remaining equity in June 2012.

Most of the mineralization of the Sisson tungsten-molybdenum deposit is located in a narrow northwest-trending quartz sulfide vein. Tungsten is mainly found in a scheelite, while molybdenum is found in molybdenite. The mineralization extends to a strike length of 1900m, with an average width of 650m and an average depth of 350m.

One of the top ten tungsten mine projects outside China, Sisson Tungsten-Molybdenum Project's feasibility study completed in January 2013, and the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report was submitted in July 2013. The two-year construction phase is expected to start in 2015, while production began in 2017. The project is estimated to require a capital investment of $579m and is expected to create approximately 500 construction jobs and up to 300 operational jobs

Northcliff believes that China is the world's largest supplier of tungsten. In 2010, China began to restrict tungsten exports to ensure that its internal demand was met. The Sisson Tungsten-Molybdenum Project, one of the top ten tungsten mine projects outside China has led to increasing demand for the development of new and easily accessible tungsten resources outside of China. The Sisson Project is strategically located to provide key tungsten resources for Asia, the United States, and Europe.
