Tungsten Putty, an emerging tungsten-based composite, is crafted through a special process that deeply bonds high-purity tungsten powder with a high-molecular polymer, distinguishing it within the tungsten product family. Its morphology differs significantly from traditional tungsten products—it is neither the loose, powdery form of tungsten oxide nor the dense metallic texture of high-density tungsten alloys, instead presenting a paste-like appearance similar to solid grease with a distinctive oily sheen.
Tungsten Putty integrates the dual advantages of tungsten and polymer materials. With a density typically ranging from 8 to 10 g/cm³, it serves well as a counterweight product. The polymer component provides excellent plasticity, allowing manual shaping or mold forming to meet the needs of complex geometries. A polymer protective film on the surface enhances its outstanding oxidation resistance, while its hydrophobicity effectively resists moisture erosion. Combined with good acid and alkali corrosion resistance, it is suitable for various challenging conditions.
The material’s thermoresponsive deformation offers unique handling properties: it remains solid and pliable at room temperature, softens to a putty-like consistency when heated for easy shaping, and quickly hardens upon cooling, enabling repeated processing. In terms of color, eco-friendly colorants allow customization in black, brown, gray, dark green, and other shades to suit different application aesthetics.
Tungsten Putty demonstrates strong adaptability across various scenarios. In toy counterweight applications, its moderate density improves weight efficiency, enabling adjustable center-of-gravity distribution in pinewood toy cars for enhanced stability. As a fishing sinker material, its rapid sinking speed in water, paired with excellent shaping capability, allows for the creation of hydrodynamic shapes like teardrop or olive forms, reducing casting resistance.
Strict adherence to specific requirements is essential for storage and use. It is recommended to store Tungsten Putty in a cool, dry environment using sealed packaging to isolate it from air and UV light. Prolonged exposure can lead to drying, cracking, and hardening, while high temperatures may accelerate softening and deformation, affecting subsequent processing precision.
