W18O49 Nanorod Applied for Electrochromic Thin Film

W18O49 nanorod can be used to prepare an electrochromic thin film that can achieve thermal insulating and anti-UV performance. Nowadays, such smart film has been applied more and more to large-area glass such as glass curtain wall and floor-to-ceiling windows to achieve the goal of “warm winter and cool summer”. So, how to prepare tungsten oxide nanorod powder?

Some experts have used a solvothermal method to synthesize alkoxy tungsten oxide nanorods by using octylamine and oleic acid as surfactants. In this process, a solution of tungsten oxide nanorods is obtained by decomposing tungstenethoxide in a mixture of trioctylamine and oleic acid in a ratio of 1:1, and the reaction product is collected by centrifugation, thoroughly washed with ethanol, and dried at 60°C to obtain a dark blue powder, that is, a tungsten oxide nanorod powder, and the yield was about 80%. Although it is difficult to accurately distinguish between different stoichiometric tungsten oxides and their structures, the XRD pattern of the obtained powder found to be most similar to the already reported W18O49 nanorods.
