Tungsten Core Penetrator

Tungsten core penetrator is an efficient armor-piercing projectile developed on the basis of ordinary armor-piercing projectiles, which is one of the commonly used modern military weapons. The penetrator inside is loaded with tungsten alloy core, so it’s called tungsten core penetrator.

In order to penetrate thicker armor, it’s necessary to increase the kinetic energy of the projectile after firing, and to make bigger shells. So do something in the warhead material. Tungsten core penetrator is composed of air cap, projectile core, projectile body and tracer. The projectile core is the main part and the key part of the penetrator, which is made of high-density tungsten alloy that has high density, high hardness, which is the main material for making hard core ammunition. The projectile body is made of low carbon steel or aluminum alloy, mainly supporting the role of the bullet core, it has a conduction band, which can ensure the stability of the rotation of the projectile. The projectile core is fixed in the middle of the body. Tungsten core penetrator has many advantages, such as high speed, low ballistic trajectory and great armor penetration. Among them, the armor piercing power is the most outstanding advantage of the projectile compared with the same caliber.
 
Tungsten core penetrator is made of high density tungsten alloy, whose density can up to 18g/cm3. The large section density of the projectile heart is beneficial to improve the speed keeping ability of the flight and the penetration ability of the steel plate, and increase the kinetic energy of the armor piercing projectile, and give a fatal strike to the armor. Tungsten alloy is a kind of metal material with high temperature resistance and good thermal stability. The tungsten core has to withstand high pressure and high temperature in the armor-piercing projectile, and the core made of tungsten alloy will not be deformed even under the condition of high temperature and high pressure.
