Tungsten Concentrate Collecting Agent - Salicylhydroxamic Acid

During flotation process, collecting agent will change surface dewatering property of tungsten element, floating tungsten grains will attach to bubble. Salicylhydroxamic acid is common used hydroxamic acid collecting agent. Compared to oleic acid, it has stronger collecting capability.

Salicylhydroxamic acid is pink or orange solid powder, slightly soluble in water, soluble in alkali agent, has stable property, smells like salicylic acid, has low toxicity, is an ideal tungsten concentrate collecting agent.

Salicylhydroxamic acid can forms into metal chelating material with tungsten which is stable, has strong dewatering property, insoluble in water. Its collecting ability is stronger than oleic acid. This is due to its dewatering property when combining with tungsten in water. Further more, salicylhydroxamic acid reacts with alkali metal will form unstable chelating material, so it has better selectivity than oleic acid. It also has low toxicity, less using amount and strong adjusting property. So it is soon be spread into nonferrous metal flotation.

Research shows that salicylhydroxamic acid combines with nitride lead as active agent, sodium silicate as inhibitor to beneficiate wolframite slime containing 1.07% WO3. By flotation, tungsten concentrate with grade 20.30% can be obtained, recycle rate is 80.27%, 30% higher than using oleic acid as collecting agent.

Although salicylhydroxamic acid has strong collecting capability, good selectivity and low toxicity, they are expensive. Salicylic acid as raw material is already an expensive fine chemical products. So it need to use with cheap agent, such as nitride lead.
