Tungsten alloy shielding is made by tungsten nickel copper alloy or tungsten nickel iron alloy instead of lead or steel, and used to shield the radiations.

WHA shielding applications

The shielding can be used in medical industry, such as shielding gloves, PET shielding, cancer treatment instrument, collimator in medical accelerator, radioactive source containers, gamma radiography tungsten alloy radiation shielding, shielding block, tungsten heavy alloy X-ray collimators, Syringe protection for radioactive injections, etc.

Besides medical industry, nuclear industry is also applied WHA shielding a lot, such as shielding room, shielding wall, shielding tin, shielding vessel, protective box, protective container, nuclear testing equipment, nuclear power plant shielding, defense for nuclear submarines etc. More applications, for example, source holders, shielding in lab, shielding in civil company, shielding source holders for oil well logging, etc.

There are three standards used in producing the shielding, which are ASTM B 777-99, MIL-T-21014 and AMS-T-21014. Mostly, the grades are 90W to 97W with density from 17 to 18.5g/cm3, and hardness 24~32HRC. The shielding is can made with non-magnetic or magnetic. Usually, we produce the shielding under the tolerances of ISO2768M, if there is special requirements, such as only minus tolerances, Chinatungsten can also produce according to the detail drawings.
