Thermal decomposition process of APT is the thermal decomposition process of ammonium paratungstate. The researchers have proposed a detailed and systematic decomposition mechanism of ammonium paratungstate under inert gas on the basis of summarizing previous research results.

Thermal decomposition process of APT mainly includes the following four steps:
Step One: At 50-180 °C, lose all crystal water to form anhydrous ammonium paratungstate;
Step Two: At 190-280 °C, lose NH3 to form an amorphous compound; There are two main statements about this amorphous compound - Calculate the product formula from the amount of NH3 lost, inferring that it is AMT/ Judging from the product structure that it is similar to ATB, it is presumed to be amorphous ATB;
Step Three: At 250-380 °C, release H2O and NH3, and finally form (NH4) xWO3 series of products - ATB;
Step Four: Above 380 °C, decompose ATB into WO3. The decomposition process in the first three steps in hydrogen is similar, except that the reduction reaction of tungsten oxide occurs from Step Four.
