Tungsten disulfide nanosheet and gold nanocatalyst are used as the catalyst layer material of the catalytic anode in the visible light-responsive low-temperature fuel cell. In the absence of light, the gold nanocatalyst can play an obvious electrocatalytic performance on small alcohol molecules such as methanol; under visible light irradiation, WS2 nanosheets are excited by visible light, have strong catalytic oxidation ability, and can also directly participate in the catalytic oxidation of methanol and other small molecule alcohols. That is to say, under visible light irradiation, the gold-tungsten disulfide catalytic anode shows a synergistic effect of electrocatalysis and photocatalysis, which greatly enhances the catalytic oxidation of small molecules of alcohols by the gold nanocatalyst. More importantly, the catalytic activity of the catalytic anode for small alcohol molecules under visible light irradiation is significantly improved compared to the catalytic activity of the catalytic anode under no-light conditions.
