Tungsten Disulfide Nanosheet Applied for Fuel Cell Catalytic Anode

Tungsten disulfide nanosheet, or WS2 nanosheet, is applied for producing catalytic anode of a fuel cell. The researchers proposed a visible light-responsive catalytic anode for a low-temperature fuel cell, consisting of a conductive substrate and a catalyst layer supported on the conductive substrate. Wherein, the conductive substrate is made of copper, conductive glass or carbon material, and the catalyst layer is composed of WS2 nanosheet powder and a gold nanocatalyst supported on the WS2 nanosheet powder.

Why choose tungsten disulfide nanosheet as a catalyst for fuel cell catalytic anode? As a carrier, WS2 nanosheets can improve the dispersion of gold nanocatalysts and prevent gold nanocatalysts from agglomerating on their surfaces. On the other hand, tungsten disulfide nanosheets have obvious semiconductor properties. As the thickness decreases, especially less than 100 nm, tungsten disulfide nanosheets exhibit significantly superior visible light response performance.
