In the past, scribers were mostly made of spring steel wire or high-speed steel, but these scribers had poor wear resistance and short service life, so they were not suitable for many occasions. Now, the high-speed steel scriber is gradually replaced by tungsten carbide scriber, and the service life of the latter is forty to fifty times that of the former. When scribing on surface of cast iron blanks, you’d better choose a tungsten carbide scriber to maintain long-term sharpness, and the line width should be in the range of 0.1mm-0.15mm.
