Photocatalyst Preparation by Cerium Doped Tungsten Trioxide

Polluted wastewater and anti biotic wastewater are typical toxic and harmful industrial wastewater that are difficult to degrade, such as wastewater from pesticide industry and wastewater from some chemical industry. Because of the high concentration of fungicides in wastewater, which can kill and inhibit the growth of microorganisms, it is difficult to treat this kind of wastewater directly by biotechnology.

In view of the weak photocatalytic activity of the existing WO3 catalyst, the researchers prepared the photocatalyst by doping cerium ion with tungsten trioxide. The doping process is as follows:

A)add tungsten powder to H2O2 stirred by magnetic force at the speed of 300r / min. the molar ratio of tungsten powder and H2O2 is 1:4. After continuous heating and stirring for 2h, the milky white solution becomes a yellow sol-like substance, which is naturally cooled to room temperature.

B)add cerium nitrate to CH3CH2OH which is magnetically stirred at the speed of 180r / min, heat and stir, wherein the molar ratio of CE element in cerium nitrate to w element in step a) is 1:90, the volume ratio of CH3CH2OH to H2O2 in step a) is 1:1, and the mass fraction of H2O2 is 30%.

C)inject the solution obtained in step b) into the yellow sol-like substance obtained in step a), heat and stir to obtain the gel, and then aging the gel for 2h.

D)put the gel obtained in step c) into the oven, dry it at 103 ℃ for 30min, and then grind it into powder.

E)put the powder obtained in step d) into muffle furnace, heat it, and then burn it to obtain cerium ion doped tungsten oxide catalyst.

The prepared cerium doped tungsten oxide catalyst was used in the photocatalytic antibiotic wastewater. When cerium doped tungsten oxide catalyst and hydrogen peroxide were added, the dosage of cerium doped tungsten oxide catalyst was 200mg / L, the dosage of hydrogen peroxide was 3ml / L, and the illumination was 400W. Under the same conditions, the removal rate of isothiazolinone on cerium doped tungsten trioxide catalyst is 73.43% higher than that on WO3 alone and 52.15% higher than that on WOalone.
