Hexapetal Flower-like Tungsten Trioxide Photocatalyst with Heterostructure

Tungsten trioxide is regarded as one of the most promising photocatalysts because of its visible light response. However, one of the difficult problems it faces is its poor catalytic activity. Although noble metal platinum (Pt) supported tungsten trioxide exhibits high catalytic performance, the price of platinum is unbearable, so it is imperative to study cheaper synthetic materials.

In order to avoid the direct use of precious metals as raw materials and reduce the cost of synthesis to a certain extent, researchers are developing a preparation method of hexapetal flower-like tungsten trioxide photocatalyst with heterostructure. The catalyst consists of monoclinic WO3 and orthorhombic WO3·0.333H2O. The preparation method is a two-step hydrothermal method. The specific steps are as follows:

1)Adding appropriate amount of water to the reaction vessel and adding ammonium tungstate and ammonium fluoride in turn under stirring conditions;

2)Add a certain amount of concentrated nitric acid and stir for 30 minutes.

3)Tungsten trifluoride was obtained by adding mixed solution to PTFE lining, hydrothermal reaction at 180 ℃ for 24 hours, centrifugal washing and drying.

4)Tungsten trifluoride obtained from the previous step was placed in a mixture of pure water and 30% hydrogen peroxide solution, and stirred for 30 minutes.

5)The mixed solution was added to the PTFE liner, and hydrothermal reaction was carried out at 180 ℃ for 24 hours. Six-petal flower-like tungsten trioxide with heterostructure was obtained by centrifugal washing and drying.

It can be seen that the hexapetal flower-like tungsten trioxide photocatalyst with heterostructure has the advantages of simple preparation method, low cost, good reproducibility, good stability and high catalytic activity. It can effectively remove organic pollutants in water under visible light and degrade Rhodamine B wastewater solution efficiently.
