Silver Tin Oxide-Tungsten Electrical Contact Material

At present, silver-tungsten electrical contact alloys have been widely used as contact materials in low-voltage electrical appliances due to their excellent wear resistance, welding resistance and arc erosion resistance.

It was found that adding oxides such as bismuth oxide, copper oxide or one or more of indium oxide to form silver oxide electrical contact materials, forming particle reinforced composite materials, has good wear resistance, welding resistance and arc erosion resistance, and improves the electrical properties of electrical appliances. In order to achieve this goal, a kind of silver tin oxide-tungsten electrical contact material was prepared by mechanical alloying method, which was completed in the following steps:

The first step is to mix conventional SnO2 powder with nano SnO2 powder and additives to form SnO2 powder evenly.

The second step is adding tungsten powder into SnO2 powder, mixing and stirring to form SnO2 composite powder.

Step 3: SnO2 composite powders were put into silver ammonia solution, coated with silver, then dried evenly to form silver tin oxide-tungsten powders.

Step 4: Ag-SnO-W alloy powders were mixed by ball milling to form Ag-SnO-W alloy powders.

Step 5: Sintering silver tin oxide - tungsten alloy powder at high temperature to reduce the temperature.

Step 6: Sintered Ag-SnO-W alloy is screened.

Step 7: The screened Ag-SnO-W alloy was isostatic pressed to form ingot.

Step 8: Sinter the ingot, then heat and extrude it into wire, and then pull the wire to the finished product.

Silver tin oxide-tungsten electrical contact material is made by doping tungsten in silver tin oxide, which improves the wear resistance and arc ablation ability of the electric contact, reduces the resistivity and improves the conductivity. At the same time, tungsten powder is directly mixed with tin oxide, which reduces the process. The process is simple and the product cost is low. It is suitable for industrial production.
