Molten salt electrolysis is a preparation method aiming at purifying metals. It is widely used to purify aluminium, calcium, beryllium, lithium and other metals. Some scholars applied salt electrolysis to prepare manganese tungstate powders, and then produced nanocrystalline manganese tungstate nanosheets with high purity and special morphology.

Step 1: Sodium tungstate is mixed into a solution and the concentration of WO42- ion in the solution is adjusted to 0.5 mol/L.

Step 2: Manganese chloride was mixed into solution, and the concentration of Mn2+ ion in solution was adjusted to 0.5 mol/L.

Step 3: Mix the aqueous solution of sodium tungstate prepared in step 1 with the aqueous solution of manganese chloride prepared in step 2. The molar ratio of sodium tungstate to manganese chloride is 1:1. Mix the precipitation solution for 10 minutes, then drain it and dry it to get the precursor.

Step 4. The precursor and lithium nitrate prepared by step 3 are fully ground. The weight ratio of precursor and lithium nitrate is 1:3. The mixture is placed in a corundum crucible, and then the crucible is put into an electric furnace. After holding for 5 hours at 300 ℃, the mixture is removed and cooled.

Step 5. Finally, the cooled samples were washed with deionized water and dried to obtain well-crystallized manganese tungstate nanosheets.

Manganese tungstate nanosheets prepared by molten salt electrolysis have no impurities, high purity, sharp diffraction peaks, good crystallinity, and no use of any organic surfactants. The preparation of manganese tungstate nanosheets has low cost, no environmental pollution, and is easy to industrialize. Manganese tungstate with unique nano-flake structure can be used in photoluminescence, optical fibers, multiferrous materials, photocatalysts, scintillators, humidity sensors and magnetic materials, and will have more excellent properties.
