Traditional shotgun bullets usually use steel balls or shot putts with diameter of 2 mm-8 mm, and tungsten alloy balls with high specific gravity are used individually.
Using tungsten alloy with high specific gravity as the core of shotgun bullet, its raw material is mainly tungsten, which needs to be formed by powder metallurgy process. But at present, it seems that the production cost of tungsten alloy ball with high specific gravity is too high. In addition, the density of high density alloy is generally 15g/cm3-19g/cm+, and the high hardness will seriously affect the range, and the high hardness will greatly shorten the service life of the barrel.
Therefore, the above three materials of shotgun bullet core have shortcomings in preparation technology, production cost, range effect, health hazards and so on, which need to be improved urgently. In order to solve the problems and shortcomings existing in the bullet core of hunting rifle in the existing technology, a Hunan enterprise developed a new type of hunting rifle bullet mainly composed of tungsten tin alloy.
Its manufacturing process is to mix tungsten powder, tin powder and iron powder in proportion of 1:2:0.5 powder and put them into a 50 kg "V" mixer for 20 hours, add 50 kg ball milling rod to increase powder loading, mix and grind the powder through 150 mesh sieve, and finally use a 4-stage 108 MPa die-casting machine to mix the raw materials through 1 zone temperature 110 ℃, 2 zone temperature 335 ℃, 3 zone temperature 280 ℃ and 4 zones. The process of temperature 230 ℃ and pressure 100 MPa is injected into the designed 8mm spherical die. After forming, the die is cooled by cooling water for 20 seconds and the tungsten tin alloy ball is obtained. The average density and hardness of the alloy are 9.75 g/cm3 and HBS15 respectively.
tungsten tin alloy ball has a high density. It can reach an ideal range when used in shotgun bullets, and its density and hardness can be controlled. It can effectively reduce the wear of the barrel. More importantly, its composition is non-toxic, and it is harmless to people and environment.
