Tungsten Nitride Catalyst

Tungsten nitride is a new type of catalytic material. Its surface properties and catalytic properties are similar to that of noble metal platinum.

The application of tungsten nitride catalyst can avoid sulfur pollution caused by industrial catalysts, therefore, as a catalyst, it has a wide application prospect.
 
In recent years, with the aggravation of heavy oil and inferior oil, the content of heterocyclic compounds in petroleum and the degree of thickening and cyclization become higher and higher, which has a toxic effect on the processing of petroleum products, and seriously pollutes the environment. In order to reduce emissions, compounds, and protect the environment, many countries and regions have formulated strict standards for sulfur content in gasoline and diesel fuels.
 
Hydrodesulfurization and deep desulfurization are the two main operation emphases of gasoline and diesel desulfurization, but under the condition of general diesel hydrofining, the hydrogenation saturation of aromatics is limited by thermodynamic equilibrium, so it is very difficult to achieve deep desulfurization and hydro upgrading. Therefore, scholars at home and abroad have proposed three solutions, segmented desulfurization, fractionation desulfurization and new catalyst design, but after the experiment, we find that the first two solutions are unsatisfactory, and only third solutions are likely to be feasible.
 
Scientists have found that transition metal nitrides with high specific surface area have similar catalytic activity to group Pt metals in the process of gasoline and diesel hydrodesulfurization. Especially tungsten nitride (molybdenum) is not only highly active, but also environmentally friendly.
 
In practical application, the method to enhance the catalytic ability of tungsten nitride is to find the carrier for tungsten nitride. It is found that r-Al2O3 is an ideal carrier for tungsten nitride, and W2N-r-Al2O3 composite is beneficial to stabilize low price and increase the quantity of active tungsten. In addition, promoters N, Co, P and V promoted the thiophene hydrodesulfurization activity of W2N-r-Al2O3 catalysts. Therefore, it also showed good hydrodesulfurization activity for industrial diesel oil.
