Tungsten Ore Flotation Organic Inhibitor - Carboxyethyl Cellulose

In tungsten ore flotation, organic inhibitor can be divided into macromolecule organic inhibitor and micromolecle organic inhibitor. In recent years, organic inhibitor has diverse structure, has good selectivity for mineral, and is environmental friendly. Organic inhibitor has special function for gangue, so it is used to take place of sodium silicate.

Carboxyethyl cellulose is also called HEC and number 3 cellulose. It is a kind of white or light yellow, odorless, non-toxic cellulose form or powder form solid. It is prepared by alkali cellulose and ethylene oxide (or chloroethanol) etherification reaction, belongs to nonionic soluble cellulose ethers.

Since HEC has good property of thickening, suspending, dispersing, emulsifying, adhering, filming, protecting moisture and providing protective colloids, is widely used in petroleum exploration, painting, construction, medicine, food, textile, papermaking and polymer polymerization field.

HEC can inhibit amphibole gangue minerals and chlorite and mica gangue minerals effectively. It is proved that HEC has better effect when dealing with chlorite and mica gangue minerals. However, HEC also has noticeable shortcomings. It will foaming in flotation process and cause difficulties in flotation. So it is not widely applied like carboxymethyl cellulose.
