Quartz Vein Type Tungsten Concentrate Deposit

Tungsten concentrate has various types, such as greisen type, quartz vein type and porphyry type. The most famous one is quartz vein type tungsten concentrate deposit, it distributes in south of Jiangxi, north of Canton and east of Hunan. The resource is concentrated and full of rich ore, has been the main exploration of tungsten in China.

The formation of quartz vein type tungsten concentrate is that during crustal movement, magma containing tungsten, ferro and other elements emplace to the superficial layer. During cooling process, it forms liquid with SiO2. These hot liquid penetrates into cracks of rock, cooling down and crystallization, then forms into quartz vein. In quartz vein type tungsten concentrate, the main content is SiO2, other content are ferro, tungsten and commensal minerals such as tinstone, molybdenite, bismuthinite. These minerals are usually black.

In 1960s, geologists concluded a rule that most quartz vein tungsten concentrate deposit, from upper deposition metamorphic rocks to the lower granite, can be divided into five bands: quartz mica line, sparse veinlet belt, intensive veinlet belt, parallel thin vein group and the main mine belt. This is the famous five floor rule. Thanks to this rule, we found many big mines in south of Jiangxi, north of Canton and east of Hunan.
