How to Play Beer Darts

This game combines the joys of drinking beer with a variation on darts. It is also known as Beer Darts or Drunken Cricket. Be warned, this game can get you drunk very fast.
1.The object of this game is to try to hit your own number with your dart.
2.Players throw their darts one at a time until all three darts are used.
3.If your dart hits your number, you must take one drink, and subtract one tally mark from your score.
4.If a player hits a double (the narrow band at the outer edge of the board), he/she must drink two times and can erase two marks.
5.Similarly, if a triple is hit (the narrow band at half the diameter of the board), then the player must drink three times and can erase three marks.
6.You are out of the game when you have no more marks left.
7.The scary part of the game is that if your dart hits another player's number, then that player must drink, PLUS add a mark to their total.
8.If you hit a double on another player's number, then they drink twice and add two points. Hit a triple on another player's number and they drink three times and add three points.
9.If a player misses the dartboard completely, he/she must drink once.
10.Any person who hits a bulls-eye can choose someone to drink. One drink is designated for the outer bulls-eye. The inner bulls-eye is worth two drinks, but the drinks can go to different people.
11.Bulls eyes do not affect scoring, but they do use up one of your throws.
12.The last player who has marks left has to drink a beer for each point remaining.
13.Each player takes a turn and throws a dart at the dartboard to determine his/her number for the game. If the next person's dart lands on a number that's already taken, that person keeps throwing darts until they get their own number.
14.Record the players' names with their numbers on a scoreboard.
15.Make 10 tally marks under each person's name.
16.Decide how far back the darts will be thrown from. The normal distance can be used, but any agreed upon distance will work.

Regulation Dart Board Height

If you've never had your own dart board, you probably have no idea of how to hang it. You don't want to get it wrong, or you'll risk being the mockery of all your buddies. Hanging a dart board is quite simple once you review the regulations. The World Darts Federation is a large regulatory body of tournament play with affiliate organizations throughout the world. Their rules serve as the default for tournaments, bars and homes alike.
Height
Hang the dart board at 5 feet 8 inches. This measurement is from the ground to the center of the board, not the top.
Significance
If you think 5 feet 8 inches seems like an arbitrary number, it's not. The easy explanation for this height is that it's approximately eye level for someone who is 6 feet tall. Therefore, your eyes would be aligned with the center of the board.
How Do Flight Protectors Work in Darts?

Darts is a sport that requires both precision and accuracy. using flight protectors on your darts can improve your throw in a number of ways as well as preventing damage.
Preventing Damage
The flight protectors are small clips made from metal or plastic. They are placed on the top of each flight (covering all four edges) protecting the top of the flight from any possible damage when hit directly by another dart.
Aerodynamics
Flight protectors also keep the aerodynamics of the dart in good shape by maintaining the shape of the flight to avoid unnecessary movement while the dart is in the air. This means the dart is more likely to hit the target if thrown accurately.
Compatibility
All flight protectors fit any shape of flight in either soft tip or steel tip darts, such as pear, kite and dimple shape. For a small price, this handy piece of equipment helps improve performance and safety.

How to Get a Dart Tip Out of a Dart Board
- Details
- Category: Tungsten Dart News & Info
- Published on Monday, 11 November 2013 11:07
One of the more frustrating things that can occur during a game of darts is having a tip stay in the board while the back half of the dart breaks off. The broken tip creates a dead spot on the board because, if a player throws a dart in that exact spot, the dart will bounce off instead of sticking properly. Removing broken tips will solve this problem.
1.Assess how you want to remove the broken tip. Some dart boards allow you to push the tip through the board where it falls into a well in the board that can later be removed. If this is the case, use a dart tip tool. It looks like a rounded awl and fits exactly into the dart tip.
2.Insert the dart tip tool into the dart tip.
3.Push the dart tip through the dartboard until you hear it fall into the well.
4.Retrieve the dart tip. Sometimes the well is open and the tip will fall straight out. Other times you may have to flip the dart board over, open a compartment in back and remove the tip.
5.Decide if it's possible to pull the dart tip out. Some dart boards, such as electronic ones, do not allow you to push the tip through, so you need something to remove the tip. Needle nose pliers or a similar tool will get the job done.
6.Place the needle nose pliers around the broken tip. If the pliers are thin enough, place the top side of the pliers into the hollow tip and the squeeze the grip. Otherwise, you will need to open the pliers around the tip and squeeze the grip.
7.You may need to lean your other hand on the wall or dart board for leverage. Continue pulling with the pliers until the dart tip is removed.

How to Replace Dart Flights
- Details
- Category: Tungsten Dart News & Info
- Published on Monday, 11 November 2013 11:05
Although darts are rugged metal devices that last for a long time, the flights are not. Flights are made out of feather, rubber or plastic. They need to be removed every time the dart is put away, which gradually fatigues them and wears them out. Fortunately, there are many different replacement dart flights available that you can fit once you understand the process.
1.Choose your dart flights. Standard dart flights are pretty wide, which effects the movement of the dart. They straighten the dart out in the air, which makes them good beginner flights. They are also good for people who like to lob their darts rather than throw them straight with a lot of force. Narrower flights are good for short shaft darts and for aggressive throwers. Check the reference below for more info on dart flights.
2.Pull the old flight straight out of the shaft of your dart. You can save it in your dart case as a spare, or simply throw it out.
3.Inspect the dart shaft. If it is cracked or bent in any way, unscrew it and screw in a new shaft. Plastic shafts go bad all the time, and a new flight won't help your game if it is wobbling around in an old shaft.
4.Gently bend the new flight so that the planes are at right angles to each other. The flight should form two flat, intersecting planes for a total of four fins.
5.line up the flight with the slits on the back of the shaft. Gently push the flight into the shaft until it is all the way in.

Rules of Cricket Darts
- Details
- Category: Tungsten Dart News & Info
- Published on Friday, 08 November 2013 11:16
In the dart game Cricket, players attempt to "close out" the numbers 15 through 20 and the bull's-eye in fewer throws than their opponent(s).
Closing Out
A number is successfully closed out when a player hits it three times. This is generally denoted on the scoreboard by a diagonal slash for the first hit, a second diagonal slash making an "x" for the second hit and a circle around the "x" for the third hit, signaling a number is closed out.
Scoring
When a player is first to close out a number he can score points by hitting that number again. This opportunity remains available until all players have closed that particular number. The amount of points scored is equal to the target number. In the case of the bull's-eye, the outer ring scores 25 points and the center scores 50.
Bonus Rings
Cricket counts both the outer double-score and inner triple-score rings. A double counts as two hits on a target number while a triple counts as three. That means a player can potentially close out a number with one dart. With bull's-eyes, the outer ring counts as one hit, the center as two.
Bonus Rings and Points
Once a player has closed a number, the double and triple rings act as point multipliers. A triple 20 would equate to 60 points if the player has closed that number. If a player hits a double or triple score but only needed one strike to close out the number, the additional hits are counted as points so long as an opponent still has the number open.
Winning
A winner is declared when one player has closed out the target numbers and has the highest point total. If a player has closed all the target numbers but has fewer points than his opponent, he must continue hitting whatever number the opponent has open to reach a higher point total.

How to Win at Dart Cricket
- Details
- Category: Tungsten Dart News & Info
- Published on Friday, 08 November 2013 11:10
Dart cricket is a game played by two people or two teams competing against each other. Unlike many other dart games, much of the board gets ignored in cricket, in which you try to hit only the numbers 15 through 20 and the bull's-eye. To win, you'll need to throw the darts accurately, but you'll also need to understand the rules to be able to capitalize on your opponent's weaknesses.
1.Close out numbers 15 to20 and the bull's-eye by hitting them three times. If you hit the number in its outer ring, it counts as two hits, and if you hit the number in its inner ring, it counts as three hits. Once you have the third hit, you can close out that number. Not only does this bring you one step closer to winning the game, but it keeps your opponent from being able to increase their score.
2.Score points by hitting numbers that your opponent has yet to close out. For example, let's say that you've already closed out the number 15, but your opponent hasn't. Not only have you earned 45 points by hitting the 15 three times for yourself, you can continue to ear 15 points by hitting the 15 on the board until your opponent has closed out that number.
3.Close out every number and the bull's-eye before you opponent does. Once you have beaten them to closing everything out, add up the scores. If you have the highest score, you win.
4.Continue playing if you've closed everything out but do not have the highest score. Remember that the only way to get points is to try to hit numbers that your opponent still has open. To win, you have to get your score higher than your opponent's score before your opponent has a chance to close out all of their numbers while still in the lead.

How to Beat the Man in Darts in "Poptropica"
- Details
- Category: Tungsten Dart News & Info
- Published on Friday, 08 November 2013 11:08
The Cryptids Island level of "Poptropica" sends you on a chase after five different famous legendary monsters, with the Loch Ness Monster being the most famous of them all. You'll need a boat to get out onto Loch Ness, but it's impossible to get a ticket to that boat before you beat a man in the pub at a game of darts. The controls for the dart game approximate the motions that you would make if you were pulling back your arm to throw a dart.
1.Play through the Loch Ness section of Cryptids Island until you're challenged to a game of darts by a man in the pub. He will offer you a ticket to a rowboat if you can beat him at darts. The screen will change to show a dartboard on the right side and three darts arranged along the left side of the screen.
2.Click on any one of the darts to temporarily make the dart your cursor. Use the mouse to move this dart cursor until it is pointing at the center of the dart board. The bullseye is worth 50 points, so it's best to aim for that. If you want to aim at a larger target, aim for the "20" area. Hold the mouse button down after you are aiming at your desired target to bring up a yellow "X" target marker.
3.Slide your mouse back towards you while holding the left mouse button down to simulate pulling the dart back to throw at the board. Release the left mouse button to throw the dart at the yellow "X." The distance that you pull the mouse towards you affects your throw. If you don't pull the mouse back at all, the dart will fall to the floor when you throw it, and if you pull the mouse back too far then the dart will fly over the dart board. Start with the mouse at the top of your mouse pad, then pull it back roughly halfway on the mouse pad towards before releasing the mouse button.
4.Throw three darts in all to complete the game. Your only objective is to have more points than your opponent, and one bullseye will generally be enough to beat him. If you do lose the game, talk to the man again and he'll challenge you to a rematch.

How to Play Cut Throat in Darts
- Details
- Category: Tungsten Dart News & Info
- Published on Friday, 08 November 2013 11:06
Cut throat is a variety of cricket, a popular and fun dart game. Whether or not you are already familiar with the rules of cricket, if you follow the steps below you will soon be an expert at cut throat--at the rules at least.
1.Decide upon your strategy. In cricket, each player works toward getting three marks in each number 15 through 20, as well as the bullseye. A double counts as two marks and a triple as three. Once a player has gotten three marks for a number, that number is "closed." You will want to work toward closing all your numbers in whatever manner best suits your style of play.
2.Keep score of your hits. Traditionally this is done with a chalkboard hung near the dartboard. An electronic dartboard will often take care of this for you. If you do have to score on your own, the traditional manner in which to do so is to write the numbers down the side of the board and the names of the players (or teams) at the top. The first hit of any number is designated by a diagonal line under the name and in line with the number. With the second hit this diagonal line is turned into an X. Finally, for the third hit, draw a circle around the X.
3.Determine who goes first and begin the game, alternating turns with each player taking three shots at a time. Record any hits accordingly.
4.Try not to hit any number once you have closed it. This is the key to cut throat. In other styles of cricket, hitting a number you have closed is desirable, as it gives you points and you need the most points--in addition to closing out every number--to win. In cut throat, however, you do not want to score points because instead of earning them yourself they are given to any opponent who has not also closed out the number.
5.Record any points scored and remember that once every player (or team) has closed out a particular number no more points can be scored by hitting it. For example, if all players have closed the 20 and you hit it, no points are accrued.
6.Score more points than your opponent(s) to win and you must close out all the numbers 15-20, as well as the bullseye.

How to Make Streamline Darts
- Details
- Category: Tungsten Dart News & Info
- Published on Thursday, 07 November 2013 11:01
If you're wondering why your foam darts never go where you aim them, you're not alone. Foam darts used in dart guns rarely follow the direction you intend because they are simply too light to fly in a straight trajectory. Adding just a little bit of weight in the front of the dart, right underneath the Velcro or suction-cup head, is an easy way to streamline darts, increasing your accuracy and making you a formidable opponent in dart games.
1.Use a knife to cut a slit into the heads of the darts. Lay the dart sideways on a table so you are looking at its profile. Place a sharp knife in the center of the dart's head, parallel to the top and bottom of the dart head. Saw the knife back and forth until you create a slit halfway through the dart head, where you will find a small opening.
2.Place a bead of hot glue at the top of the dart shaft, in the center of the dart's head.
3.Place a BB in the hot glue, making sure that it is completely centered in the dart's shaft. An uncentered BB will make the dart fly crooked.
4.Place a bead of hot glue on top of the BB and fold the head of the dart gun over the BB. Hold the head firmly closed as the glue dries.
