Player 1 throws three darts and gets two in the red (2 ea) and one in the blue (0). His competitor, Player 2, throws three darts and gets one in the single (1) and two in the trips (3 ea). Total Score: Player 1 = 4, Player 2 = 7. Player 2 wins the round.
Additional Tips
A dart must remain in the board to be counted for points, no bounced or falling darts count. If a dart falls out while the player is throwing his remaining darts, it doesn't count. Should one dart stick into another dart somehow, it doesn't count. Should a dart land in the wire between two sections (referred to as a "split wire"), the higher of the points of the two sections will be counted.

Widdy Darts Rules
- Details
- Category: Tungsten Dart News & Info
- Published on Wednesday, 27 November 2013 11:16
Widdy is an American dart manufacturer. American darts are completely different than the kind used in English dartboard games. With the weight in the nose, and three flight wings attached, Widdy darts are distinguishable by their blue and stamped words, "Official Tournament," and "Widdy Dart Mfg. Philadelphia, PA No. 1."
Gameplay
While playing darts, players waiting their turn are to remain behind the shooting line. Players getting ready to shoot must "toe" the line from which they're shooting. Each player is expected to throw three darts for each turn and complete all three before the competitor shoots. If teams are competing, then each player on a team completes his turn before the next team shoots.
Dartboard
The Widdy dartboard is not the traditional "bullseye" dartboard you might be used to. Rather it is broken into pie-shaped pieces that extend, pointing toward the center, outward. Each piece goes from the red center cork in the middle outwards through the red and white ring, and stops at the blue ring.
Scoring
Scoring is done in three separate sections. The largest area is the first scoring section and covers all the uncolored area from the red cork in the center to the outer red ring. Referred to as "the single," this area is worth one point. The outer red ring is the second scoring area, referred to as "the red," and is worth two points. The thin uncolored outer ring that runs between the blue and red ring is known as "the trips" and is the third scoring area. Three points are assessed for darts that land in the trips. Landing a dart on the outer blue ring draws no points.

Holding the Dart in A Professional Way
- Details
- Category: Tungsten Dart News & Info
- Published on Wednesday, 27 November 2013 11:13
The dart should be held at a level position with the elbow up at a straight angle. Keep the dart pointed toward the board. Where it is pointing is your focus and intended target. Your grip should be solid but relaxed without putting any tension on your fingers. It's better to grasp the dart loosely then too tight. Only hold the dart with two fingers and your thumb. When you throw it, release it in the direction of where you want it to land and the dart will do all the work. Putting spin on the dart is also unnecessary and will only serve to hurt the consistency of your shots.

The Professional Concentration to Throw Darts
- Details
- Category: Tungsten Dart News & Info
- Published on Wednesday, 27 November 2013 11:10
Concentration plays an integral role in consistently throwing a dart accurately. Much like other sports such as golf and bowling, the secret is being able to repeat the same motion time and time again. But the key to darts is you have to make minor adjustments based on where you are aiming. Confidence plays into this concentration element as well. Your body will respond to your brain knowing you will be able to consistently hit a specific target. Of course, this is all easier said than done and even the best professionals have a difficult time mastering this aspect of the game.

The Professional Stance to Throw Darts
- Details
- Category: Tungsten Dart News & Info
- Published on Wednesday, 27 November 2013 11:08
Stance is incredibly important when throwing darts. A good one makes you steady and allows you to hit specific areas consistently. Try to keep your legs straight but relaxed, with feet spread apart so your upper body is supported and less likely to move. Your upper arm should also be held steady as you throw, so only your forearm, wrist and hand are releasing the dart. Do not swing, jump or bend your knees when you throw the dart, as people are liable to do. You are not shooting a basketball--darts are incredibly light objects that don't need much power behind them to hit the dart board.

The 23-year-old from St Helens qualified via the ProTour Order of Merit last year but managed to rise through the rankings to make it into the field as a seeded player for the first time after the Players Championship double header in Barnsley this weekend.
Colin Osborne was the man to miss out because of Smith's improvement, and the former UK Open finalist will have to stay in Barnsley to play in Monday's PDPA Qualifier, which offers one entry to the tournament and one more to the preliminary round qualifier.
Outside the top 32 in the world rankings, 16 more places go to leading non-qualified players on the Order of Merit, led by UK Masters finalist Stuart Kellett - that list also includes Jelle Klaasen, Ronny Huybrechts and Mark Dudbridge.
Ben Ward, the Dorset youngster who finished second in the Challenge Tour standings this year and will now make his debut in a major event at Alexandra Palace as PDC Unicorn Challenge Tour Order of Merit winner.
Among those joining Osborne at Monday's qualifier are two-time world champions Dennis Priestley and Ted Hankey, former World Championship finalists Peter Manley and Kirk Shepherd, former UK Open champion Roland Scholten and ex-World Youth Champion James Hubbard as well as Denis Ovens, who is only just back from carpal tunnel surgery.
Reigning champion Phil Taylor predictably tops the seedings ahead of Michael van Gerwen, Adrian Lewis, Simon Whitlock and Andy Hamilton.

Northern Ireland star Brendan Dolan secured his second ProTour title following a convincing 6-1 victory over Jamie Robinson in the final of the last Players Championship of 2013.
'The History Maker' backed up early victories against Connie Finnan, Keith Stephen and Mark Jones with a tense 6-4 success over Wes Newton to advance to the quarter-finals at the Barnsley Metrodome.
He then overcame Scotland's Gary Anderson 6-3 before putting a together a run of four straight legs in his semi-final against Terry Jenkins to win 6-2 and seal a spot in the final.
Colchester's Robinson produced a remarkable run, beating Shaun Griffiths, Ronny Huybrechts, Joey Palfreyman, Andy and Jamie Lewis to reach the last four where he snatching a dramatic deciding leg victory against Ricky Evans to reach the final.
Dolan quickly established a 3-0 lead in the final, landing double 16 and then breaking again with a 180 in another 13-darter.
He then hit double 16 to win the fourth leg before Robinson took out 62 to get a leg on the board, but the world No 15 took the next two legs and completed the win in style by converting a 90 finish on double ten for a 12-darter to collect the £10,000 winner's prize.
"It feels brilliant and I'm chuffed to bits," said Dolan, who won his maiden ranking title at the start of November in Wigan.
"The class of players on the tour now is so great that this is the best place in the world to play darts, and it means so much to win another tournament.
"I'd like it to become more of a habit now and the dream is obviously to go on and win a big TV event now. This is a great platform for me to build on going into the Players Championship Finals and World Championship.
"I'm playing well and I know that I can beat anyone if I get my concentration right. I'm really positive about my game at the moment, I'm confident and I know I'm playing well."

Clark beat Moss 5-0 in the final, meaning he will be entered into the first round of the tournament while his beaten opponent wins a place in the preliminary round.
Clark last appeared at the world championship three years ago, while Moss will be making his first appearance at the tournament.
"It's great to be back. Ian's had a great season, he's picked up some good results and he deserves this too, but I've had two years by the wayside and this is brilliant for me," Clark said.
"I still remember the buzz I got when I first played at Alexandra Palace and had a walk-on, and it's always special there. You can't imagine how it feels and I'm looking forward to being back there so much."
Among the big names to have missed out in Barnsley include former world champion Dennis Priestley, former finalists Peter Manley and Kirk Shepherd and 2004 UK Open champion Roland Scholten.
The draw for the preliminary round will be made this weekend, with the draw for the tournament proper to be shown live on Sky Sports News on December 2.
