Praseodymium and Neodymium Metal Price - Oct. 19, 2020

Rare earth market quotation in China: the praseodymium oxide, dysprosium oxide, praseodymium neodymium metal prices continue to remain unchanged from last week.

Although China is the only country in the world's major economies to maintain positive growth this year, the demand side remains weak on international economic slowdown, making it difficult for holders to raise their quotations.

Affected by the second wave of coronavirus worldwide, geographical conflicts of various countries, the approaching of US election and poor performance of traditional consumption season, most investors are hesitated to operate, which has led to low import and export markets of light and heavy rare earths. However, supported by favorable factors such as costs, stricter environmental protection policies, businesses are less willing to cut profits.

Among the 33 industrial product prices monitored by Baotou in September, seven of the eight rare earth products showed a downward trend from the previous month. The average price of rare earth carbonate was RMB 20,875/ton, down by RMB 375/ton or 1.8% from last month, and down by RMB 2,625/ton year-on-year, or 11.2%; the average price of cerium oxide was RMB 9375/ton, down from last month 875 yuan/ton, a decrease of 8.5%, a year-on-year decrease of 2875 yuan/ton, a decrease of 23.5%; the average price of praseodymium neodymium metal was 424,000 yuan/ton, a decrease of 3,000 yuan/ton from the previous month, a decrease of 0.7%, a year-on-year increase 14,000 yuan/ton, an increase of 3.4%.
